What’s The point?

Freedom

This project is the quest for Freedom; the Freedom to find out who I can become and what I can accomplish. If I follow my conscience, no matter the cost, if I protect my soul with my life, if I am mindful of the inevitability of death so that I can maintain my focus on living, if I dedicate my life to the development of courage, authenticity, accountability, discipline, community, sacrifice, and flow, then I will truly be free.

We all want freedom. The freedom to do what? What do we mean when we talk about freedom? “Hey, man, it’s a free country.” If you go to the Merriam-Webster website, you’ll find definitions based on what freedom isn’t.

    • The quality or state of being free: such as the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action

    • Liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another

    • The quality or state of being exempt or released, usually from something onerous

If we are liberated from slavery or restraint, if necessity, coercion, and constraint are absent, then what are the decisions and actions that we are free to make? The Freedom that patriotic rebels have fought and died for is the Freedom to follow one’s conscience. If you are restrained by tyranny or slavery, the voice that calls you to become your most courageous, most authentic, most excellent self is given no weight by the tyrants and slave masters. “Who are you, and what do you want to do about it?” are questions they will never ask you with any sincerity.

The tragic irony that we are living through is that the freedom to follow your conscience also gives you the freedom to pursue distraction. You are free to unleash your true potential, and you are free to waste it. The problem is that no one has clearly defined or thoroughly explained the options and their consequences, and our culture has filled the world with distractions that have the irresistible gravity of a black hole.

Everyone is born with the potential for excellence and the desire to unleash that potential. If you dedicate your life to the development of courage, authenticity, accountability, discipline, community, sacrifice, faith, and flow, you will unleash your true potential. If you dedicate your life to the pursuit of distraction, you will become a victim whose only mantra is “Tomorrow.” If you surrender your life to fear and self-doubt, you will become a villain. Villains don’t want to watch the world burn, they want to watch other people watch the world burn.

We have the freedom to decide what kind of world we want to live in, because who we are is not a reflection of the world around us, the world around us is a reflection of who we are, so who are we, and what do we want to do about it? Are we the victims who accept living in a prison of distraction? Are we the villains who live to see everyone else distracted? Or are we the heroes who find Freedom through focus and community?

Who are you? And what do you want do about it?

Community

We are here to build a community of peers and mentors focused on the Quest for Freedom. This community is united by the Ethos of the Mentor - “Everyone is born with the potential to achieve excellence and the desire to unleash that potential. I believe in your talent, and I can’t wait to see what you become. Who are you, and what do you want to do about it? How can I help you develop the skills you need to unleash your potential?”

Our priorities are skill acquisition and high standards. The skills we are working to acquire are: courage, authenticity, accountability, discipline, community, sacrifice, faith, and flow. Our standard is “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

Our community intention is to allow each member of the community to find a state of mental, physical, and spiritual tranquility so that each of us can unleash their true potential by contributing something meaningful to the community. We need each other because collaboration is the human super power. Collaboration allows for human thriving.

The most important thing in life is human potential because the saddest thing in life is wasted talent, and talent gets wasted when people get distracted. Don’t allow your potential to go to waste. Don’t get distracted by ego. Don’t get distracted by fear. Don’t get distracted by pleasure.

This is your invitation to be the hero of your own journey, to take the leaps of faith that will be necessary to develop your character, unleash your potential, and master your craft. Will you follow your conscience no matter the cost? Will you protect your soul with your life?

I don’t want to live the wrong life and then die filled with regret, and neither do you, because he saddest thing in life is wasted talent. Talent gets wasted when people get distracted. I need you to help me stay focused. How can I help you maintain your focus?

Everyone needs someone who treats them like their potential matters. I need you to help me unleash my potential. I believe in your talent, and I can’t wait to see what you become. How can I help you develop the skills you need unleash your potential?

It has to start somewhere. It has to start sometime. What better place than here? What better time than now?
